National commemorations and events for VE Day will begin on May 5 to mark the historic moment World War 2 ended in Europe. Throughout that week, there will be military processions, street parties, concerts, the Red Arrows flypast and a recitation of Winston Churchill's famous VE Day.
This year, Victory in Europe (VE) Day marks the 80th anniversary of WWII ending on May 8, 1945, when Germany surrendered its military forces to the Allies. Four days of celebrations will be held across the UK, running from May 5-8.
Monday May 5:
When Big Ben strikes 12pm, a recitation of Winston Churchill's famous VE Day speech will be read outside Parliament Square in London.
Following this, a military procession of 1,300 members of the armed forces will march from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace - King Charles and Queen Camilla, as well as the Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and other officials, will watch the parade.
Then, a flypast of the Red Arrows and some World War Two aircraft will take place. Afterwards, the King and Queen will host a tea party at Buckingham Palace for war veterans.

Over in Wales, there will be a street party in the village of Myddfai where those attending will dress in 1940s style clothes and have a sing-along.

30,000 ceramic poppies will be displayed at the Tower of London. A small part of the poppy installation will be visible to the public for free, with the main installation located inside the Tower’s grounds - this will remain in place until November 11.
Across the UK, historic landmarks will be lit up in the evening.
Wednesday May 7:
A concert will take place in Westminster Hall in central London where the 100-strong UK Parliament choir will perform. This will feature classical music from across Europe and America.
